Services
This pedigree service is designed to give your stallions and mares the best possible chance to succeed. Whether you are purchasing yearlings, weanlings or broodmares in foal, Genetic Influence will help you pinpoint the most compatible genotypes which are most likely to produce outstanding results.
Your thoroughbred may need inbreeding techniques, linebreeding or outcrossing. Alternatively your broodmare may be a product of intense inbreeding herself, so may require an outbred approach.
There is no set way of thinking. The individual thoroughbred requires an individual approach.
For stallion owners:
Obviously serving quality mares is important; but, serving quality mares that duplicate influential ancestors in your valuable stallions’ pedigree is even more important. Initial success at the sales is great. Success on the race track will guarantee success at the sales.
In my opinion, a stallion owner’s objective should be to not only try and breed stakes and group winners, but to try and breed a future champion sire which is influential in shaping the breed. Arguably the most influential sires Australia has ever seen are Heroic(champion sire on 7 occasions), Star Kingdom(5 time leading sire, 7 time leading juvenile sire), Sir Tristram(6 time leading sire), and the mighty Danehill, the most prepotent sire in decades. Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, all these legends carry an amazing amount of compatibility between sire and dam. Makes you think doesn’t it?
For broodmare owners:
If you are breeding for the sale ring, I will take into account the need for your foal to be commercial, and I will select up to 6 standout or suitable stallions for your mare. I limit this to 6 because we still need these stallions to be compatible, pedigree-wise, as well as commercially viable. I may also strongly recommend a certain stallion because of an outstanding pedigree pattern. It all depends on your mare’s genotype (pedigree). Owner’s travel and price range can also be taken into account.

Of course the intrinsic potential of your stallion or mare will play an important part in the results of future foals. It is always best to start with 2 or 3 animals of quality rather than 10 mediocre ones.
